I meant to make this post like a couple days ago uh...

I finally updated Hellfire! I entirely changed the control scheme to make it, hopefully, more traditional and also added a turn move! However, I couldn't stop there... I needed some new content so...

If you haven't heard, Hellfire got frontpaged and was a nominee for the Best Of July! I tell ya, what a dopamine boost that was! Thanks to everyone, the people that liked the game and those who critiqued it!

Ofc the game was ONLY a nominee, but we were close actually. Plus, it means I don't have to deal with all that prize money stuff anyway. Oh and also, who cares if it didn't win! It's still crazy to me the game was front paged anyway, I was NOT expecting that, wow!

Now with all I've seen and heard, I've learnt a valuable lesson... I should never make an autorunner again! Noted!

Future plans for Hellfire? Well, I MIGHT (keyword might) make either a sequel or a successor and I'll make sure is as much of an approvement as possible. That's all I'll say for now, aside from this weird concept art for the latter idea.

I’m gonna release each world on their own newgrounds page. They will be called “episodes”. So, what does this mean for the newgrounds level? Well, they’ll be newgrounds exclusive content that will be hidden in one of the episodes.

It’s going pretty good. The whole demo takes place in some alternate universe where the tutorial portal takes Blemie to another tutorial about a water gun weapon, that’s being added to this and demo 3, and then the place that this demo takes place in. The newgrounds demo has 2 levels, both being in the same location. This location is called “old grounds” which is a prehistoric place filled with dinosaurs and stuff. The world’s name is named after the place’s theme and the fact it’s exclusive to the newgrounds demo.

Anyway, the first level of this world is actually an alternate version of the first level in the mushroom valley. This alternate version uses the water gun in it and is also re-themed to fit the location (obviously). The second level is much bigger and has multiple branching paths with there also being a mini-boss in it. After that, the demo ends. The second level also has some secret codes flying about that you can enter in the password screen that’ll be added in demo 3 (which will only be on itch.io). These codes unlock some bonus stuff (including an early version of a city level).
